Notes We are a family owned, small business with approximately 10 employees that does a very large variety of work centered in the excavating field. We are looking to add an employee to our team. With our company's format, new hires start as a laborer to understand the technical skills of excavating, pipe infrastructure, and road construction as well as the values of Dykgraaf Excavating and how we function as a team. This position would start with working with one of our crews in the field and with optional time in the shop working on equipment. This position has a variety of growth opportunities and growth options such as full time mechanic, truck driver, operator, crew lead, and office work. Responsibilities:

  • Operate metalworking machines such as shears, brakes, punches, and drill presses, and CNC equipment to cut, bend, punch, drill, shape, or straighten sheet metal.
  • Fit and join sheet metal parts using riveting, welding, soldering and similar equipment to fabricate products such as ventilation shafts, exhaust hoods, partition frames, dust collection piping, and material handling systems.
  • Inspect product quality and 100% conformation to specifications.
  • Keep up with production pace throughout shift.
  • Follow directives from supervisors/leads.
  • Must have metal working tools or willing and able to attain.
  • Must pass weld test.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work space.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • MIG welding various mild steel including 16 gauge, 1/8”, ¼”, 3/8”, ½”.
  • MIG welding various stainless steel including 16 gauge, 1/8”, ¼”.
  • TIG/Stick welding experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and comprehend engineered drawings, sketches, and work specifications.
  • Mechanically inclined with ability to troubleshoot.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Fabrication experience with sheet metal and structural welding is a plus.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and calipers.
